1. MADAD App

Indian Railways i.e. The national transporter is going to launch a dedicated mobile application — rather appropriately named ‘MADAD’ (Mobile Application for Desired Assistance During travel) –to enable its passengers to lodge complaints against various issues they face while on-board. 

As of now, railways has 14 channels through which passengers can register their grievances. Each has its own response time and even standards of response. While some are active, others are not. 

The complaint lodged through the app will directly reach the relevant officials of the divisions concerned and the action taken can be relayed online, thus leading to fast-tracking the entire process of registration and redressal of grievances.

2. Qiyi VR II

Great news for all Virtual Reality fans, as China’s alternative to Netflix , the Baidu-owned, iQiyi, is soon coming up with its own 4K VR headset. 

Known as the Qiyu VR II, the headset is co-developed by iQiyi and Qualcomm and hence promises to offer portable 4K media viewing in a theater-like experience. With promised 8K panoramic video support, too, the Qiyu VR II goes way beyond existing VR headsets like the Vive Pro in terms of resolution.

3. Chrome OS Support for Linux apps

Users of Chrome operating system might soon be able to run Linux applications using containers

To make the experience of running Linux applications seamless and easier for users, Chrome OS will now support a new Terminal application. When installed on Chromebook, the Terminal app will allow users to run native Linux apps and command line tools, without requiring them to enable Developer mode.

Untill now The Chrome OS didn’t allow users to run traditional desktop Linux applications, even though it is based on Linux. To run any Linux application, the users need to use a script called Crouton which sets up a chroot of Ubuntu or Debian Linux on Chrome OS.

And hence this new found development in the world of open source makes at number 3 in this list of Top 10 Trending Tech News

4. Multi-Million Dollar Profit for Google's parent company

Internet giant Google Inc.’s parent holding company has seen a recent massive upsurge in its profits in-spite of the fact that the global debate about internet privacy that threatens to affect its main revenue generator.

Net profit jumped 73% to $9.4 billion in the first quarter, up from $5.4 billion in the same period last year, a performance that highlights the firm’s huge lead in the global market for online ads. The earnings growth was Alphabet’s strongest since the fourth quarter of 2009.

Alphabet’s earnings also got a multibillion-dollar boost from the company’s stakes in startups including Uber Technologies Inc. but were tempered by the costliest spending spree in its 14-year history as a public company.

The raising profits of Alphabet in this age of lack of data privacy has certainly raised some eyebrows and hence this news makes at 4 in this list of Top 10 Trending Tech News.

5. Apple AirPower


AirPower is Apple’s oval-shaped wireless charging pad that promises to work with the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, the Apple Watch and a new wireless charging AirPods case that Apple will release some time in the future.

AirPower will charge multiple devices at the same time — but other charging mats can do that, too. What’s different here is that AirPower claims it can help devices communicate with each other to manage power consumption. We’re not exactly sure how that works yet, but we’re hoping Apple soon shines more light on this intriguing feature.

Apple’s AirPower demo shows the iPhone screen tracking all the devices currently on the charger, and their battery status. It isn’t clear if this will work with non-Apple devices, or if the technology has been built into the iPhone as well as the AirPower pad.

6. Amazon Echo Spot Launched in India

Amazon has launched a new Echo device in India.The Echo Spot which comes with a small screen. It also has a speaker and is powered by Amazon’s digital assistant Alexa. Echo Spot is priced at Rs 12,999, and can be purchased via Amazon India and retail.

Echo Spot looks like an alarm clock but with a screen in front, and can be placed on your bedside table. It comes in two colours of black and white. Echo Spot can be used for watching news videos from different media houses. You can also watch shorts videos like movie trailers on Echo Spot. All these activities on Echo Spot including video calling can be controlled through Alexa. Users will first need to download the Amazon Alexa app on their Android and iOS smartphones and pair the Echo Spot

7. NVIDIA AI tool to repair damaged Images

Great news for photoholics as NVIDIA, the Graphics Processing Unit manufacturing company has come up with a deep learning method to edit and reconstruct images that makes Photoshop seem obsolete.

The software allows for parts of images that have been deleted or modified to be ‘inpainted,’ or replaced with digital reconstructions based off of the remaining uncorrupted image. The results are scarily accurate.

As per the research team based at NVIDIA, they’re the first to successfully train a neural network, to process irregular shaped holes in images. It removes the need for hours of work from graphic designers to achieve perfect, natural results with masking layers in tools like Photoshop. Much like Nvidia’s AI that turned dogs into cats ,as of now this project is just a proof-of-concept.

8. Mobile Download from Instagram


Instagram, the online video-sharing and social networking application software by facebook has now come up with a unique feature which lets you download and save all your data at once, which includes all your photos if you so desire. 

Thanks to Europe’s new GDPR privacy laws that require tech companies to be more transparent about the kind of user data they hoard. It also mandates that they allow their customers to download a copy of that data whenever they want.

Here are the steps that you can follow to download your data from Instagram

1.Open Instagram.

 2.Head to the Privacy and Security page in the settings section.

3. Scroll down to Get a Copy of What You’ve Shared on Instagram

4. Enter the email you want the data to be sent to and make sure it’s correct,

5. Hit Next.You will be notified that the data has started downloading and that it may take a while to get to your Inbox.

6.Check your email Inbox periodically until the data email arrives, and if it doesn’t arrive contact Instagram.

9. Opera Touch

Opera has announced launch of it’s two brand new products — Opera touch mobile browser and an updated version of its Opera desktop browser. The R&D team at opera says that Touch browser has been designed from the ground up and it can connect with the updated Opera PC browser without setting up a password or login. 

The Opera Touch browser starts in search mode, ready to look for things on the web. The keyboard will already be up and the address bar cursor will blink to indicate URL or search entry. “We have moved the browser’s key functions within your thumb’s reach,” said Maciej Kocemba, product manager at Opera. “This means that, unlike in most other browsers, you can more easily browse and search the web when on the move.”

Additionally, there is a Fast Action Button (FAB) at the bottom of the screen, for the one-handed browsing experience. The new feature provides direct access to the most recent tabs and a search feature. It also enables the user to navigate through the browser using the thumb.

10. Python & Machine Learning


Python programming language has become the most popular programming language to learn in the year 2018.


According to the IEEE Spectrum due its wide range of applicability such as in the  Automation, Data Analytics, web development, penetration testing, and machine learning, Python has the fastest growing markets as far as general trends in usage, and languages popular specifically for open source development are concerned. 

So if you are still dwelling from resources on the web and considering which programming languages to study, whether prior to college, during it, or in continuing professional development. Then Python is the language for you.
